International science depends upon collaboration between scientists. Clearly such collaborations go on without the need for the involvement of the WCJS. But, anything that can foster such collaborations is a positive factor both for the advancement of science and the interests of specific scientists seeking partners. We envisage the WCJS as a clearing-house for the interactions of scientists worldwide through the use of our website. In our website we intend to have a section for members only that will provide not only the name and address of members, but also their areas of research. This will enable members to search for the topic of their interest, and then be able to contact the individual scientist anywhere in the world to discuss mutual interests. We intend this to foster collaborative interactions between Jewish scientists worldwide, both for their individual interests and for those of the Jewish people. In some cases this will lead to scientific collaborations that otherwise would not have happened. Also, this kind of interaction will foster the exchange of information, such as information about grant applications, and alternative locations for academic sabbaticals. This would include the possibility of mutual projects on topics that are of interest and value to the Jewish people and the State of Israel, such as Jewish genetic diseases or water conservation. For all these reasons we urge all qualified scientists to join the WCJS.
